Jen comes to Shining Rock Classical Academy after many years of working as a certified Medical Lab Scientist, Microbiologist, Instructor, Online Instructor, and college level and early college high school teaching in the classroom, predominantly as adjunct faculty. She still enjoys teaching classes online and writing curriculum and websites on the side. Jen’s husband recently retired as a Medical Lab Tech and was previously in the US Air Force, bringing them to the beloved Western NC mountains. Outside of school, you can find Jen reading, writing, visiting family and friends, working on her microbiology and biology websites, looking at all kinds of things under the microscope, traveling, taking pictures, kayaking, shopping, or having a cup of coffee in silence out on the deck looking at the mountains.
I love teaching science to kids because it invokes curiosity about the world around us, creativity, it is wonderful to have them ask questions and see their eyes light up as they learn, and it is practical and personal to them and can really make a difference.
