Nancy studied Environmental Education before becoming a school teacher. She graduated with a dual certification in Elementary Education and Special Education from Rhode Island College and began her teaching career in Massachusetts in 1999. She worked with students with language-based learning challenges until 2007 when she moved to North Carolina and transitioned to teaching 3rd grade in Roxboro and Durham public schools. Nancy proudly joined the Shining Rock faculty in January of 2024 as the gifted education specialist and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) teacher. She is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy in her students. In her free time, Nancy enjoys writing songs, playing guitar, watercolor painting, hiking by the creek, gardening, cooking, and caring for her cat and three dogs.
