The Shining Rock Difference
What makes Shining Rock special is the community. We are centered on working with parents, students, and teachers to support the child’s education and help him or her be successful. Our teachers use various teaching methods, experiential learning, and hands-on activities to help facilitate learning for all children. We strive to work together using our core values: Integrity, Leadership, Respect, Responsibility, Wisdom, and Compassion. At Shining Rock we implement each of these values into our lesson plans and the work we do. Each child is empowered to act in ways which will help set him or her up for success.
What is a public charter school?
Shining Rock is a public charter school which is a school that receives public funds. We are subject to the same regulations and statutes that apply to other public schools, and in some cases have stricter oversight than traditional schools. For example, we undergo a 5-year licensure audit process . Generally, charters have more flexibility regarding curriculum and daily operations than traditional public schools. Shining Rock is governed by a local board, which holds monthly public meetings.
