Mrs. Christy Prusia is thrilled to join Shining Rock Classical Academy this year as a 2nd-grade teacher and take on a few other roles. She knows it will be a wonderful, exciting & positive year filled with learning and new adventures. Mrs. Prusia was born and raised in sunny Miami, Florida, and moved to North Carolina at 22. She is married and has 3 boys, and is also a Gigi to four-year-old twin girls and a sweet three-month-old girl—who are her absolute joy. Her youngest son is 12 and is currently in 6th grade right here at Shining Rock. He has attended the school since 2nd grade and has had a wonderful experience. While this is her first year teaching elementary school, early childhood education has always been her passion. She studied early childhood education in Miami, earned her Early Childhood credentials, and holds her Child Development Associate (CDA) in Pre-K. She is also a certified yoga instructor and a licensed esthetician. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, hiking, practicing art, messy scrapbooking, and, of course, spending time with her family. She is incredibly excited for this opportunity in elementary education and looks forward to a fantastic school year ahead.
