Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Preparing Students for High School and Beyond

At Shining Rock Classical Academy, our Middle School program serves students in grades 6 through 8 by strengthening academic skills, developing character, and preparing students for a successful transition into high school. As a tuition-free public charter school, we continue our classical approach to education by challenging students to think critically, communicate effectively, and become independent learners who are prepared for greater academic responsibility.

Our middle school classrooms emphasize the proven benefits of classical education and traditional learning methods. As a low-tech learning environment, students spend less time on screens and more time engaging with quality literature, textbooks, handwriting, note-taking, classroom discussions, and direct instruction from experienced teachers. This intentional approach helps students improve focus, strengthen writing and communication skills, and build the confidence needed for increasingly rigorous coursework.

Shining Rock Classical Academy - Middle School (Grades 6-8)Experiential learning remains an important part of the middle school experience at Shining Rock. Students participate in hands-on projects, outdoor learning opportunities, service experiences, and collaborative activities that encourage critical thinking, leadership, and real-world problem-solving. These experiences help students connect classroom concepts to everyday life while developing the curiosity and resilience that support lifelong learning.

As students prepare for the transition to high school, we place a strong emphasis on organization, personal responsibility, time management, and academic independence. Guided by our core values of Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Responsibility, Wisdom, and Leadership, students develop the habits, character, and work ethic that will serve them well throughout high school, college, careers, and beyond.

At Shining Rock Classical Academy Middle School, we are committed to preparing students not only for the next stage of their education, but also for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and meaningful contribution to their communities.
